Every character can perform both ranged and close combat. Aragorn - Aragorn wields a single long-sword and a bow. He is the most well-rounded and best at attacking at close range. Legolas - Legolas wields duel short-swords and a bow. He is the quickest character and excels at ranged attacks.
Gimli - Gimli wields an axe and small throwing axes. He is the slowest, but most powerful character. Isildur Unlocked - Isildur wields a single long sword and bow and arrows. He is the same as Aragorn in all regards. Each playable character has their own unique moves, though execution of said moves is the same across all characters. Additional moves and upgrades can be bought as the player gains experience points , with the exception of Isildur who shares his move set with Aragorn. In fact, the only difference between Isildur and Aragorn is that Isildur has more health.
Experience points are gained when a player kills an enemy. The more enemies that are killed consecutively or with combos the more experience points the player gains. Each attack is graded with a Fair, Good, Excellent or Perfect and the grade directly influences the amount of points received. After the player totals a certain number of experience points they gain a level and open up more moves and upgrades to purchase.

But first, the island itself has to be rebuilt. Game director Khang Le's become very interested in gardening, with his most recent fascination being aquascaping, and you'll be needing a green thumb if you want to get ahead in Towers. Planting seeds and taking care of the world will bring it back from the brink, as well as providing future resources.
But like those social farming sims, the island's also a welcoming place. Le also talks wistfully about the moments between encountering your prey in Shadow of the Colossus, and the aimless exploration where you aren't bogged down with countless objectives. In Towers, players will explore and experiment and figure things out for themselves, but they'll also be able to work together. Other players are your collaborators, each helping to nurture flora and fauna, bringing the island back to life.
There's PvE, with hostile creatures and eventually even demonic invasions that can destroy the server, but players won't be obstacles. When you join a server, you'll need to plonk down your eponymous tower. You want to protect it from attack and upgrade it with resources you've collected. You can't move it, so you'll be stuck with the spot you pick at the start of the game.
Maybe you'll pop it down on the coast so you can start fishing. First, though, you'll need to revitalise that part of the ocean, diving in and growing habitats for fish. Only then can you exploit it, leading to Towers' main conflict.
The game is pretty much about balancing the two," Le explains. So maybe I build up this beautiful, magnificent avatar tree, and many players work together over two weeks, and we build maybe 20 of them, but as my tower grows, to get to the next level it needs a really rare resource which only comes from that tree.
Players have to make a choice between leaving their tower as it is or cutting down these massive trees. Getting rid of a bunch of trees or overfishing can then have an effect on the rest of environment. Without those trees, maybe some of the creatures you've attracted will become extinct. And maybe other players need those resources that are now not available because they've all been harvested.
